Job
Bernard Kamoroff is the author of
Small Time Operator, a book for business
entrepreneurs currently in its 47th printing. Each
time the tax laws changed, Kamoroff would have to
revise his book in accordance with the new laws and
we would have to typeset a new edition. We trained
him to do it all himself and recommended
appropriate hardware and software. A CPA, Kamoroff
no longer has time to devote to his accounting
practice, but he earns considerably more as a
one-book publisher.
When Inge Bell decided to update This
Book Is Not Required, she wanted her book to be
affordable to students. Using a scanner and desktop
publishing technology, we were able to cut costs by
40%, and the savings were passed along to students
who, somewhat ironically, are required to read
Professor Bell's book at over 200 colleges and
universities nationwide. Since it's no more
expensive to promote two books to the same audience
as it is to make teachers and students aware of
one, Inge Bell decided to publish a book by her
colleague Bernard McGrane. We proofread, typeset,
and printed The Un-TV and the 10MPH Car.
Praised by the country's foremost sociologists, the
book had to be reprinted almost immediately.
