Publish, You Reprint
New York publishers must project sales
of several thousand copies a year before they
consider reprinting a book, but a title that sells
even a few hundred copies a year can be profitable
if issued independently. David and Micki Colfax
bought the rights to Boontling, a book about
a curious language spoken only in Boonville,
California, and we designed a new cover for it. The
language has been the subject of a 60
Minutes treatment and a National
Enquirer story, and book sales have been steady
for years.
