Fiction
The park was beautiful, as were the restored Victorian houses nearby. Predicting that drunks and vagrants would migrate there, Park Ranger Hank Forrester criticizes city officials for actually creating a skid row. Grieving the recent deaths of her husband and aunt, Claire Patterson chooses an entirely new direction: she’ll manage the bookstore and live in the Victorian her aunt has bequeathed her. At a time when women are starting to buy homes and run their own businesses, Claire’s accomplishments and the love she finds make for an engrossing narrative of a daring young woman and a government agency run amok.
This is Marina Snow’s third novel. She has also authored The Walking Wounded and Look No Further, which won “Best First Novel” and “Best Fiction” awards from the Bay Area Independent Publishers Association. Ms Snow has written two plays, and her short fiction has appeared in Artisan: A Journal of Craft and The Masthead. She graduated from the University of Iowa and attended the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.

The Girlfriend’s Infertility Treatment Companion
by Elizabeth Gordon Dellenbaugh
Published by Lost Coast Press
ISBN 978-1-882897-92-6
Original Trade Paperback · 5.5 × 8.5 · 160 pages
Women’s Health / Infertility / Family
Meet nine girlfriends who’ve been through infertility treatment (IT) and can help you make your IT easier by sharing what they’ve learned. This is candid, humorous description of what treatment is like from the patient’s perspective. The girlfriends tell you who’ll be touching you where, with what, why, and what it feels like. They give you practical tips on how to balance your life, handle the shots, ride the hormone roller coaster, play doctor roulette, cope with baby showers and pregnant friends, and keep the warmth in your sex-on-schedule — all the stuff no one else talks about, especially your doctors. The girlfriends can’t cure infertility, but they can make your infertility treatment a whole lot better.
Elizabeth Gordon Dellenbaugh underwent more than three years of IT including extensive testing, drug treatments, and procedures: intrauterine insemination, in vitro fertilization, and frozen embryo transfer. She is a graduate of the University of Chicago Law School who credits her girlfriends for making her laugh, get to the point, and not write like a lawyer.
